Deep Sea Minerals appoints Raj Matthew as chief financial officer

Deep Sea Minerals Corp. said it has appointed Raj Matthew, CPA, as chief financial officer, effective October 27, 2026. The company, which focuses on seabed mineral exploration and development, said the move is part of its effort to strengthen financial leadership as it advances corporate and exploration priorities.

The appointment comes as the company continues to position itself around polymetallic nodule opportunities and broader critical minerals themes tied to defense, industrial manufacturing, clean energy infrastructure, advanced electronics and AI-related supply chains.

Matthew brings public-company and transaction experience

Matthew has more than 25 years of financial leadership experience, including prior service as CFO of Asante Technologies, a Nasdaq-listed networking hardware company. Deep Sea Minerals said he oversaw financial initiatives tied to operational restructuring, capital raising and strategic transactions during that tenure.

His background also includes serving as Audit Committee Chairman of Nasdaq-listed K2 Capital Acquisition Corp., where he was responsible for oversight of financial reporting, internal controls and SEC compliance. The company also cited prior senior roles at Seagate Technology, PrimeBlock, RiskSense, Narus and Vivato Networks.

Finance and compliance background may support capital access

Deep Sea Minerals highlighted Matthew’s experience across SEC reporting, treasury management, internal controls, audit coordination and cross-border financial operations. For a development-stage resource company, that profile can be relevant as it navigates financing, reporting and potential strategic transactions.

The company said his experience with acquisition and divestiture transactions, as well as preparations for potential public-company combinations, adds to his fit for a business that remains in an early-stage exploration phase and may require external funding to advance its plans.

Steven Nguyen moves to vice president of finance

Alongside the CFO change, Deep Sea Minerals said Steven Nguyen will transition from chief financial officer to vice president of finance and will remain a director of the company. The company thanked Nguyen for his service in the CFO role and said it expects him to continue supporting the business in his new position.

The transition suggests continuity in the finance function while bringing in a CFO with deeper public-company and capital-markets experience.

CEO frames appointment as support for next stage of development

Chief Executive Officer James Deckelman said the company is pleased to welcome Matthew and pointed to his experience as a Nasdaq-listed company CFO, along with his background in financial reporting, capital raising and strategic transactions. Deckelman said those skills will be valuable as Deep Sea Minerals advances its corporate and exploration priorities.

The company did not announce any change to its exploration strategy, but reiterated that it is focused on evaluating opportunities to support future critical mineral supply through the acquisition, exploration and development of deep-sea mineral assets.

We are pleased to welcome Raj as Chief Financial Officer of Deep Sea Minerals. His experience as the CFO of a Nasdaq-listed company, together with his background in financial reporting, capital raising and strategic transactions, will be valuable as we advance our corporate and exploration priorities. We look forward to working with Raj to strengthen the Company’s financial capabilities and support its next stage of development.

Broader exploration agenda remains centered on Pacific Ocean opportunities

Deep Sea Minerals said it has begun early-stage engagement with selected governments and regulatory bodies in the Pacific Ocean region to assess potential pathways for future exploration initiatives, subject to applicable international, national and environmental frameworks.

The company’s disclosure also emphasized that its work remains subject to regulatory approvals, financing availability and other execution risks typical of early-stage mineral exploration companies.
